About

Who We Are ?

We are a public foundation, registered as a charitable organization with the Canada Revenue Agency. Guided by Christian values and committed to building a better, fairer world that respects human dignity, we believe that leaders and decision-makers from all sectors face the challenge of reconciling economic demands with the fundamental need to uphold the dignity of the people who keep organizations running.

Why “À Dieu va”?

“À Dieu Va” is an expression borrowed from the language of sailors, meaning “into God’s grace”. Maritime navigation has always carried a real element of the unknown and the uncontrollable, a reality felt intensely by sailors in the 15th century when ships set sail from Europe to reach the Americas. In Old Breton, À Dieu Va… was expressed as “Duce D. Ho. Miro”. In Old French, it was also written with a “t”: À Dieu Vat. This form is accepted in common usage. These four words were spoken by Breton parents accompanying their children at the port of Saint-Malo when they departed for Quebec, a journey that took three months. “À Dieu Va” conveys trust in something greater than oneself, highlights the bold initiative at the heart of everything we undertake, and celebrates the courage to face risk.

Here is our

History

The “À Dieu Va” Foundation was established in 2007 by Mr. J.-Robert Ouimet. Its mission is to share the corporate experience of Notre Projet with executives and leaders across various workplaces, as well as with professors and researchers in management. This dissemination is carried out through conferences, factory visits, support for writing case studies for management education, organizing symposia, preparing publications, and more. The foundation believes that reconciling personal fulfillment with efficiency, growth, and profit is possible by placing respect and human dignity at the core of essential values. Integrating a spiritual dimension and openness to transcendence is the unique hallmark of this experience. The foundation is rooted in the Catholic faith, practiced with an ecumenical and human-centered perspective.

Dr. J.-Robert Ouimet (1934–2018) was a graduate of HEC Montréal and the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, where he earned a doctorate in Social and Economic Sciences, demonstrating that employee fulfillment can be reconciled with organizational efficiency and profitability through an integrated management tool system. He also earned his MBA from Columbia University (New York). Dr. Ouimet served on numerous boards in the financial sector, retail, insurance, and food industry; he was actively involved in various arts and music organizations, as well as in charitable initiatives through Catholic Church movements.

During his career, he visited over a hundred campuses and companies across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. These visits enabled him to give more than 200 private lectures to business managers, professors, and management students. They also allowed him to meet thinkers and social actors engaged in applying spirituality within organizations.
